Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Delhi Transfer to the Park Hotel. Overnight.

Day 2 Delhi Morning: rest. Afternoon: half day sightseeing Old & New Delhi. Overnight The Park Hotel.

Day 3 Delhi - Shimla Shatabdi Express to Chandigarh, Dep 0730hr Arr 1030hrs. Drive onward to Shimla. Lunch will be enroute at Hotel Rock Rose Dharampur. Evening free on the Mall. Overnight Hotel Combermere or Springfields.

Day 4 Shimla Morning visit Old Shimla, Summer Hill and the Viceregal lodge. Return for lunch at your hotel. Late afternoon hike up to the temple of the Monkey God Hanuman atop the Jhaku hill. Overnight Combermere or Springfields.

Day 5 Shimla - Kalpa (265km /8hrs) Drive through the breathtaking gorges of the Greater Himalayas to Kalpa (2900Mt / 290 Km) Looming in front of Kalpa is an impressive Kinner Kailash (6050M). This mountain changes colors several times a day with change of weather conditions. Hotel Kinner Villa

Day 6 Hike to the pretty little village Chini. For a long time this was the only place in Kinnaur that the outside world had some knowledge due to Lord Dalhiousie's two visits here when he was the Governor General of India. This fascinating village finds mention in Kipling's Kim. Visit the Hu Bu Lankar monastery and the Vishnu Narayan temple. Return to Hotel Kinner Villa for Overnight.

Day 7 Kalpa Drive to Recong Peo and the new Buddhist Monastery built to commemorate his holiness the Dalai Lama's 'Kalachakra Sermon'. Hike to village Kothi the abode of proud and petulant goddess Chandika and the shrine of her faithful follower Bhairon. Climb down to village Tehlangi which offers a birds eye view of the magnificent Satluj Valley. From here we connect to one of the few remaining dirt patches of the famous Old Hindustan Tibet road to village Pangi which boasts the best temple complex-- that of Shesering's the brother of Narayan. After a picnic lunch among the gushing Pangi stream return to Hotel Kinner Villa. Evening at leisure.

Day 8 Kalpa - Sangla - Kalpa From Kalpa drive to Baspa Valley also known as the Sangla Valley, by far the most beautiful valley of Himachal Pradesh, full of wooded slopes as far as Chitkul (3435 Mts. / 80 Kms) the last inhabited village in this valley surrounded by green fields and high mountain peaks. Chitkul is like a fairyland with quaint little houses, temples, gompas. The people of Baspa Valley conjure up the perfect image of a Shangri- La. The bewitching scenery and the eternal snow view from here is an unforgettable sight. Return for overnight at Kinner Villa Kalpa.

Day 9 Kalpa - Morang - Kalpa Today you experience Timberline, a line beyond which forests do not grow. Moorang is the last village in Kinnaur where one can travel without an inner line permit. It offers a birds-eye view of the moonscape Spiti ranges. A walk through the village takes you to one of the largest centres of teaching for young lamas and also to the ancient Pandava fort. After lunch at this emerald plateau, return to Kalpa for overnight at Hotel Kinner Villa Kalpa. Other Activities at Kinner Villa Kalpa include: mountaineering, rock climbing , bird watching, six gear and friction controlled professional mountain bikes, telescope for star gazing with night charts, wildlife viewing , indoor games.

Day 10 Kalpa - Shimla Drive back to Shimla. Overnight at Hotel Springfields.

Day 11 Shimla - Chandigarh - Delhi Drive to Chandigarh to connect the Shatabdi Express to Delhi. 1230/1530. Wash/change/dinner at Ashoka Country Resort (near the airport). Late night transfer to international airport.

The Kalpa Resort is wonderful, charming, romantic, very comfortable & has excellent chefs. It faces Mt Kinner Kailash and there are wonderful short walks to various villages that are extremly authentic--not having had any contact with western civilization (until now). The area is just incredibly beautiful.

Day 12 Delhi - Agra Shatabdi express to Agra 0615/0810. Visit the Taj. Check into your Hotel. Afternoon visit the Fort and the city. Overnight Hotel Taj View, Taj-facing rooms

Day 13 Agra - F'Sikri - Delhi
Visit the ancient, deserted city Fatehpur Sikri. After lunch drive to Delhi. Transfer to the International Airport for flight home.
