The process for visa application has changed as of October 2007.    ?Travisa Outsourcing now handles all India visa requests from inside the United States as a private contractor to the Indian Embassy. They require that you go to their website to begin the visa process whether you are going in person, or mailing your application in.   Travisa Outsourcing Website

**Visa's are good for 6 months beginning with the date they are stamped into your passport, so be careful not to submit your visa application too early. The 3 month visa is no longer available.  If you think you may be returning to travel again to India within 10 years, I highly recommend the 10 year visa.

If you are traveling with us, we can get you an approval number from Immigration Department in Vietnam --no charge to you. It takes 5-7 days to get the approval number. You include the approval number on your visa application. It is good for 30 days beginning with arrival in Vietnam. Once the application is approved, the Immigration Department will send a fax copy of the approval letter to the Consulate General in SF or the embassy in DC, depending on your home residency.
